Hey there, just found your reference to my SXSW 11 session. Thanks for the swift & accurate review of my main points!

May I use your "dynamic speaker" reference as a testimonial on the GGI website:

Becky,
I find your field of work fascinating. I am not a developer, I am a staffing specialist. I came upon your name while researching Dojo and Web 2.0.

I trust that you are happily employed at IBM but perhaps you know of a Dojo developer who would be interested in either an engagement or a full time position with my client in Orlando,FL. My client is a Fortune 100 Company with much to offer.

If so,would you kindly refer them to me? If not, perhaps you might suggest other places to search. I guess there are very few Dojo widget developers out there.

Thank you for the work you do to make the web accessible to all or at least most.

Best regards,

Hello,

We are developers of a relatively new search tool for the deaf community. It is called 22frames.com and its goal is to index captioned/subtitled web videos from sites all over the Internet. There is a vast library of conveniently accessible content if you browse and search. It's not just about captions -- you can read more here:
http://www.22frames.com/aboutus.aspx .

Anyhow, we thought we'd share our project with you. If you think that 22frames.com can be a good resource for other people you know, we hope you can help us share it. Our backgrounds are in programming, and we’ve been wondering about the best ways to improve the site and reach the community more. Perhaps you might have some ideas.

Thank you.

Thanks for sharing your experience with captioning videos. Now that YouTube provides CaptionTube for captioning, hopefully there will be more captioned videos on YouTube.

At the college where I work, we use Captionate for captioning videos, and we use the JW FLV player for displaying the video. The file produced by Captionate is used to create an XHTML formatted file for the transcript.

Becky, what are your recommendations for providing a transcript of the video? XHTML formatted web page, Word document, plain text document, or accessible PDF?

I definitely appreciate how tedious captioning videos. This is an interesting process; I'll check out IBM DigiCape. Reading text done via voice recognition is still amusing at times. ;)
